ABOUT THE ARCHIVIST • NORTH DAKOTA
Design as Advocacy
We're a queer-led design agency amplifying rural and marginalized voices through bold branding, layered symbolism, and strategic storytelling. We fuse punk energy with professional polish, turning advocacy into art.
OUR STORY
Where We Come From
Gender Ruckus was born from a simple truth: design is political. As a queer creative rooted in the Northern Plains, I've lived the tension between visibility and isolation. I know what it means to build joy in places that weren't designed for us.
This agency is about rewriting that narrative. We create work that doesn't just look good—it does good. Every color, word, and pixel is a rallying cry: "We're here. We're proud. We're rural. And we're not going anywhere."
From rebranding LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations to crafting surreal photomashups that reclaim domestic space, our work centers queer joy, rural resilience, and community care

OUR VALUES
Bold & Unapologetic
We don't design to blend in. Our work is visible, proud, and unmistakably queer—because representation matters, especially in rural spaces.
Rooted in Place
We honor the landscapes and communities that shape us. From prairie gradients to library aesthetics, our work reflects where we're from.
Community-Centered
Design is a conversation. We listen first, iterate with care, and create work that resonates with the people who need it most.
Accessible First
Beautiful design means nothing if people can't use it. We prioritize color contrast, readable type, and mobile-friendly layouts.
Punk Energy
We approach every project with DIY spirit, creative rebellion, and the belief that good design can change the world.
Strategic & Intentional
Every design decision has purpose. We balance aesthetics with strategy, ensuring our work looks good and works hard.
